An Elegant Tea Party

I recently hosted an Elegant Morning Tea for some friends, and thought I’d do my best to treat everyone in traditional Pretty & Elegant High Tea style.

We indulged in raspberry & white chocolate friands, freshly baked fruit scones with strawberry jam & chantilly cream, white chocolate wafers, rose water cupcakes and cucumber sandwiches. For refreshments, we of course had a selection of English tea, herbal teas & coffee, as well as some pink lemonade.

The occasion called for my best bone china cups & saucers and I was happy to have the opportunity to use my silver tea spoon set and pretty cake tiers & platters.

Beautiful flower arrangements were a must, and I filled two crystal vases with pink oriental lilies, lilac chrysanthemum disbuds, white roses and gardenias from my garden.

It was lots of fun and certainly felt like a treat for us all! xo Amy

Vintage Sewing Chic 60th Birthday Party

What to do for a Mum who is turning 60, and who doesn’t want any ‘fuss’ or to really celebrate in any way? A Sewing Chic Surprise 60th Birthday Party of course!

I planned this party for my Mum, who lives two states away. It was certainly a challenge organising everything, and especially to keep the surprise, but I certainly couldn’t have done it without the help of my Dad, Brother and some Amazing friends.

After Mum had arrived, and got over the initial shock, then anger that we had gone to so much trouble, she was delighted to see so many old and new friends.

I made sure to use her favourite colours of Purple, Pink and Cream in the party styling, with the main inspiration being a piece of her own handmade embroidery that she had given me.

To add to the fun, my sister-in-law made a beautiful bespoke cake, and we set up a lolly bar complete with personalised chocolates. I decorated a Memories book for Mum’s friends & family to sign, and also put together a Memories board of some key moments of Mum’s life, which she enjoyed showing her guests.

We enjoyed a sit down 3 course dinner, and just to embarrass Mum a little bit more, I placed tags of little informative tid-bits about Mum on the flower arrangements in the centre of the table, so the guests could learn things about Mum that she had done in her life that they may not have known about.

After dinner, we all had a great time being silly in the Photo Booth, trying on hats and using the fun photo booth props I had printed.

A big thank you to everyone who made this Party possible, and a very Happy Birthday to my Mum!

xo Amy

Mayhem in the Bush {Real Weddings}

Mayhem in the Bush Wedding 1

Mayhem in the Bush Wedding 2

One of my beautiful and best friends recently got married in Dargo, Victoria (also known as the High Country/the Middle of Nowhere).
The Bride and I spent the best part of the last six months designing her Customised ‘Bush Wedding’ Invitation Suite & Printables.
It was so lovely to be at the wedding and see how she and her Amazing ‘Helpers’ brought all the details together.
All guests were greeted with a ‘Survival Kit’, which included little tid-bits that we might need. At the wedding ceremony, which was held in a working Shearing Shed (which they had kindly cleaned up for us), we were given sachets of Bird Seed to throw on the Bride & Groom to congratulate them.
The Reception, held at the Dargo Hotel, had so many gorgeous little details, from the ‘Rock Wishes’ to the little Sheep & Hay stand, which later held the cake for cutting, to the Marshmallows on sticks, which was a great snack for us to toast in one of the many open fires around the room.
Not to mention the amazing ‘Grazing Table’, featuring delicious sweet and savoury ‘Bush Treats’ such as Wagon Wheels, Cow Patties, Hay Bales and Gum Nuts.
The Bride’s bouquet consisted of handmade Hessian and Fabric Roses, and vintage doilies. A Photo Booth (which was actually an old bath tub!), with a suitcase filled full of mayhem was a great ice breaker for us all, and made for some fantastic memories.
When the Bride and Groom cut the cake, they actually used a giant lumberjack saw! Until they told us they were joking, and the real cake was still waiting to be cut.
It’s safe to say, we all had a Rough and Ready Country Good Time at this wedding, singing along to the Country Music, and loving every moment!
Congrats to Sharon & Shane {Mr & Mrs White} xo Amy

‘Smash’ Birthday Party {Real Parties}

Recently, the lovely Heldy from To the Moon and Back asked me if I could work with her and her daughter Emme, in creating a ‘Smash’ Party.

Not really familiar with the concept myself, Heldy explained that the 10 & 11 year old girls would all be given a ‘Smash Box’ where they could create fun & creative Scrapbooking Style Pages in their very own ‘Smash Book’ – where they just ‘Smash’ whatever they like & love into the book – ribbons, paper cutouts, photos, stickers, sequins, doodles, drawings…anything!

This is the fun ‘Scrapbook Style’ Smash Party Invitation I came up with for Emme & Heldy.

The colours for the party were Purple, Lilac, Cream, Brown Kraft Paper, and Black & White, with hints of mint green. We also came up with some other Printables to make Emme’s Party a fabulous event….all lovingly styled and put together by the talented Heldy.
